On 19 June 2018, the 1st Plenary Meeting of Partners of the PVC4Cables platform gathered in Milan, Italy, more than 30 delegates, in representation of the majority of the companies currently participating in the platform, either directly as individual companies or via European and National associations.
The programme covered an update on the activities implemented since the platform launch, including feedbacks and inputs received from participants in the 1st PVC4Cables Conference organised in Lyon, France, in October 2017; a regulatory overview; and updates on technical and standardisation activities.
An important part of the meeting was dedicated to the discussion of projects and activities for the second half of 2018 and 2019, which include the publication of a brochure on the application of CPR to PVC cables in Autumn 2018, and the organisation of the 2nd PVC4Cables Conference in Autumn 2019.
During the meeting delegates discussed in particular CPR and test methodologies, standardization bodies activities and how to help designers in choosing the right type of cable for each application/use.
Other topics covered include the cost/performance ratio of PVC cables both from the manufacturers' and users' point of view; and formulation and sustainability innovations to be submitted for presentations at forthcoming cable conferences.
At the end of the meeting operational decisions have been taken by the participating Partners on actions and activities to be implemented in the 2nd half of 2018, and the basis have been set for the projects to be developed in 2019.
The agreed action plan will be available for Partners in the restricted area of the website.
The next Plenary Meeting will be held in Brussels, Belgium, in February 2019.
